Fuzzball special effects figure Captain EO (1986)

King Cleaver prototype figure. It mentions the storybook land, Canal boats on the information card and has dates ranging from 1959 to 1961. I guess I have some research to do to figure out if King Cleaver was actually in Disneyland. Also, it is worth mentioning the little note next to King Cleaver “Merry Christmas to Walt from the elves in the machine shop, have a light from ‘Ozcar.’”

THE HAPPIEST PLACE ON EARTH

"To all who come to this happy place: Welcome. Disneyland is your land. Here age relieves fond mentories of the past—and here youth may savor the challenge and promise of the future. Disneyland is dedicated to the ideals, the dreams, and the hard facts that have created America-with the hope that it will be a source of joy and inspiration to all the world."

Walt Disney, July I7, 1965

Before Disnoyland opened its gates in 1955 in Anaheim. California, the dream began to take shape at The Walt Disney Studios in Burbank. The park was originally conceptualized within the Animation Building, where Walt Disney and his team of visionary artists and oarly Imagineers began sketching out the magic that would become

Disneyland. They transformed their creative ambitions into a

groundbreaking new concept in family entertainment. Across the studio lot, varicus attractions were assembled, such as the Mark Train Riverboat, Peter Pun's Fligde, Mr.

Thad's Wild Ride, and Snow White's Adrentures. The studio special effects team that had croated the colossal, fearsome squid for 20,000 Leagues Under tte Sea (1954). also helped to oversee the aerodynamic circus elephants for Dumbo the Flying Elephant, giant colorful toacups for the Mad Tea Party, and full-scale animals for the Jungie Cruise.

Since its opening, Disneyland has dared guests with a kaleidoscope of unique entertainment, igniting a sense of childlike wonder in all who pass through its gates. The park ombodios the intangible magic of imagination while existing within a tangible, physical world. Inside its careftlly crafted lands, all of wiuch biend fantasy and innovation, guests can journey from medieval castles to futuristic rocket slups, ride horse-drawn stretcam and sleek monorails, and encounter bath jungle and airborne elephants. Celebrating the I0th anniversary of Disneyland not only honors the beloved park's enduring magic but also pays tribute to the visionary spirit that created "The Happiest Flace on Earth."

The Wait Disney Archivos display presented here showcases objects that celebrate the history and heritage of Disneyland Park, and incledes a ranety of treasures ranging from oarly merchandise and attraction props, to Cast Member nametags. concept models, and more. Those historical items help highlight the rich legacy of Disneyland and offer a fasciating glimpse into is storied past.
